Design Residency - Grampus International - Romania

Sarah took part in a research project for the European Union, hosted by Grampus International, Romania. Exploring historic craft techniques.

During a visit to a Lime farm, Sarah and her fellow designers decided to recreate a cross-stitch textile sampler found in the farmer's home. Using resources at hand, they gathered potatoes from the garden to make stamps and collected local clay to create a paint-like substance. They then copied the pattern onto the walls of the farm. The mural, a brief exercise for the designers, brought great joy to the farmer and his wife, who showed their gratitude by inviting the designers to visit the local caves.
